An API, and a way to ask Claude about your Search Console data
Until now the only way to see your data was to open the dashboard. That is fine for a weekly look and useless when the question is odd, urgent, or the kind you would rather ask out loud. So BasecampSEO now has two ways in besides the app: a REST API, and a remote MCP server you can point Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor at.
Ask “which pages lost the most clicks last month?” or “is the new section getting indexed?” and your assistant reads the answer straight out of your own Search Console data. No exports, no copy-pasting a screenshot into a chat window.
Create a key in Settings → API, then one line connects it:
claude mcp add --transport http basecampseo \ https://api.basecampseo.com/mcp \ --header "Authorization: Bearer bcs_live_..."
Eight tools cover performance totals and trends, top queries and pages, the biggest winners and losers against the previous period, indexing coverage down to individual URLs, and your own brand terms, page groups and annotations, so when traffic moves on a particular day, the assistant can find the note your team left explaining why.
Two things we were careful about. Everything is read-only: an API key cannot change your data, start a sync, request indexing, or create another key, and it can never see more than the person who created it. And every response tells the assistant where the numbers came from, live from Google or from our own longer term archive, so it can say “this is complete” or “this misses the long tail” instead of guessing.
Full setup instructions for every client are in the MCP guide. Prefer to write the code yourself? The same data is available over a REST API, documented endpoint by endpoint in the API reference.
